Wildlife and Wind Farms Winners in Two-and-One-Half-Year Negotiation

The Wind Turbine Guidelines Federal Advisory Committee, convened by the Secretary of the Interior, recently reached consensus recommendations on a risk-based method to minimize impacts of land-based wind farms on wildlife and habitat. Submitted through the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, the recommendations support the national emphasis on wind energy expansion by providing predictability for related wildlife protection needs.
