The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management published the report, “Offshore Wind Energy Development Site Assessment and Characterization: Evaluation of the Current Status and European Experience” in August 2013 based on proceedings from a workshop Kearns & West helped to organize and facilitate. Workshop participants heard from European experts about studies evaluating impacts of operating offshore wind farms on avian, habitat, and cultural/archaeological resources, and discussed how the US can learn from Europe’s experiences and develop the most appropriate research goals and study requirements. Kearns & West also contributed to several sections of the report.
